LAMDA Exams
LAMDA stands for London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. A LAMDA exam is the speech and drama equivalent of a music grade, which begin at introductory levels and finishes at Grade 8. The exams use performance to develop self confidence, physical presence, independence, creativity and a strong speaking voice. At Sparks we have been preparing children for LAMDA exams for a number of years and have a 100% pass rate, with the majority of students gaining distinctions. All our Little Sparks and Bright Sparks classes work towards solo LAMDA exams within class time with the option to take an exam every year.

Why take a LAMDA exam?
There are lots of reasons to take a LAMDA Exam. The biggest reason is confidence. Exams enable children to develop communication skills, develop a strong speaking voice and most importantly give children an excellent sense of achievement!
LAMDA exams are qualifications which are recognised all over the world. LAMDA lessons and exam preparation count towards the skill section of Duke of Edinburgh Awards and grades 6, 7 and 8 count towards UCAS points for University entry.

At Sparks we teach LAMDA exam preparation in the following disciplines:

Younger children start on introductory grades and then can choose from the disciplines above. Some children like to stick to one discipline, while others like to mix it up from year to year.
